Nedescina - Sveta Nedelja, Croatia


 A village of Nedešćina is the centre of Sveta Nedelja municipality that consists of 21 settlements situated in the eastern part of Istria. The whole territory is nested on the plateau 300 meters above the sea level between the canyon of the Raša river, the fertile Čepićko field and the sea. Also, this small region with beautiful woods, pastures and always-green vegetation is lucky to be located only 8 km from Labin and Rabac.

The village is dominated by the parish church of Holly Trinity and its bell tower. As a municipal centre, Nedeščina has a post office, a bank,a nursing station, a couple of restaurants, cafés, grocery stores and bakeries.

CYCLING and HIKING

Sveta Nedelja is interspersed with numerous walking trails and a developed network of bike paths and bicycle-friendly roads that will allow you to explore its mild nature.

A little further east, the slopes of Mt. Učka offer better possibilities for hiking, trekking, free climbing, riding, mountain biking, hang gliding and paragliding.

PARK in Nedešćina

A 2 ha large park area designed in the 19th century around the old castle in Nedešćina was declared a monument of park architecture in 1974 due to its significant horticulture. Despite the fact that the park is nowadays rather neglected it is still the habitat of some interesting tree species as : Lebanese cedar (Cedrus libani), paulownia (Paulownia tomentosa), cypress (Cupressus sepervirens), black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia), horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum), black pine (Pinus nigra), Judas tree (Cercius siliquastrum ), elm (Ulmus procera), Greek fir (Abies pinsapo), yew (Taxus boccata), white poplar (Populus alba), hornbeam (Carpinus orientalis), hornbeam (Ostrya carpinifolia), sycamore (Platinus orientalis), laurel (Laurus nobilis) and pubescent oak (Quercus pubescens).

FORMA VIVA SCULPTURE PARK

The Forma Viva Sculpture Park in Dubrova features over 70 pieces of modern stone sculpture created by artists who have attended the Dubrova Mediterranean Sculptors’ Symposium held here each summer for over 30 years.
